Conceptual Self Portraits

Conceptual means to give a concept. When you take a conceptual self portrait, you want to describe a concept and create a mental picture of a personality trait. In my “Fashion” image, I chose to take a picture of my shoes. The close up angle points out the detail in the shoes, meaning that I put a lot of detail into my outfits. The black and white filter allows the viewer to imagine the color of the shoes, which leads their imagination to the colorful outfit options. These shoes are rather chic, but that doesn’t mean I can’t throw on some cowgirl boots every once and awhile.

The warm tint used in my “Sporty Softball” image conceptualizes the fact that I fell in love with softball. Although I cannot play anymore, I can play other sports in place of softball. The grainy look to this photo makes it look old and dusty; just like my season of softball.

When you look at my “Art and Journaling” image, the bright colored pens stand out, emphasizing my colorful mind. I find myself to be very creative and artistic. I love journaling and writing because it comes naturally to me.

My “Holy Spirit” picture seems pretty easy to depict. The conceptual meaning behind the sky background of my cross, is that Jesus is up there in the sky always watching down over me. The bright spot of sunlight helps portray how Jesus is the light; my king.
